This past week we learned about the letter C, the number 3 in the Pre-K class and the number 2 in the Jump Start Class. Pre-K also learned the sightword "am". Please make sure your kids are practicing their sight words so they will be ready for their new one on Mondays. We also learned the nursery rhyme: Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater. Have them say it for you!
Homework reminder:
Jump Start- Library book and homework folder are returned every Tuesday. Also, watch for your show and tell day on the back of the calendar.
Pre-K- Library book, homework folder, sight word book and sight word ring need to all be brought back on Mondays. If you don't send the sight word ring back, I will not give them their new word card. Show and tell is every Wednesday. Children bring something that starts with the letter sound they are learning that week.

Field Trip and Carnival
Our field trip this month is to Black Island Farms, on Monday, October 26th at 10 a.m. It takes a little bit of time to get there so plan on leaving your house about 9:30. Make sure you dress warm as it will be a little cool. Also, wear shoes that can get dirty because you will be tromping through mud to pick a pumpkin.
Friday, October 30th is our Halloween Carnival at the old church on 21st street (Wilson Lane)at 9 a.m. Please try to be there as close to 9 as possible so we can get started on time. Park and enter around the back. If you haven't brought your carnival donation, please start to send them in. Make sure your kids come in costume and bring a bag to put their treats in.

Show and Tell
Now that we are into our regular curriculum schedule we will begin show and tell.
Jump Start: please look on the back of your calendar to see when your child is scheduled to bring show and tell. This month our color is orange, so help them find something orange they would like to share.
Pre-K: remember, on Wednesday you each bring something that begins with the letter we are learning about that week. This week help them find something around your house that starts with the sound "B". Let them sound out objects to really start them listening for the beginning sound of words.

Class Update
After a very fun first week of learning about fire safety, we begin week two. Your children are learning quickly what they should and shouldn't do in the event of a fire. Ask them to tell you who to call in an emergency. The more they hear it, the better they will know it. Also, work on helping your child memorize their address. It would be a good thing to know in an emergency.
We begin our second week off the color unit learning the letter B/b, the number 1 for Jump Start, and number 2 for Pre-K. Pre-K has also learned the sight words "a" and "I". We also learned our first nursery rhyme: Little Boy Blue.
We have a new student in our Jump Start class. Her name is Gracie and she was originally signed up and then moved and pulled out. We are excited she decided to make the drive and come back! Parents, this means we need to increase our treats by one.
Thanks for your support. I love teaching your children!!!

Week One in Preschool
Wow, what a fun week we had is preschool! Lots of familiar faces and many new friends to make too. Our first day we took time to become acquainted with our school and the rules we have. We also made a picture frame that we use to sing a friend song. The kids are excited to be able to bring home their frames. Our second day we jumped right into learning and learned all about the color red and the shape-circle.
We will have a fun second week by starting out with blanket day on Monday and Tuesday. We will be learning all about the color yellow and the shape rectangle. I need to say sorry to my jump start class for misinforming them about the next color we were learning, I told them to wear blue the next time they came. I hope parents pay better attention to our calendar than I do. :) Please remember to have your child bring their favorite blanket to school with them on Monday and Tuesday.
Remember to have your child wear something the color of the day this month.
I love your children and am excited for a great school year!!!

Congratulations to our two winners in our "Would You Could You Read A Book" contest. The kids voted for their two favorites and they were Parker Bolos with his picture "Would you could you in a hoop" (sitting in his basketball hoop), Sorry, my scanner is not working to get the picture online, and also Madison Williams with her picture "Would you could you upside down" (Rolling upside down in tumbling class).
Thanks to everyone who participated. The kids still love to go over and look at them on the wall.

Class Pictures
Just to let you know so you can plan ahead, we will be having class pictures on May 6th. I think we will have them taken at Sandridge park like we did last year. They will be taken by a professional photographer and they turned out beautiful last year. She will be taking both class and individual photos if you want them taken. Her price last year was very low for a professional picture and there is no sitting fee! She will be sending me the info soon so I can pass that on to you. Please keep that morning open so everyone is in our class photo!!

Would You Could You Read A Book?
Thanks, to all of you who brought me your pictures for our "Would you could you read a book" contest. I can't wait to get them up on the wall for all the kids to see all the crazy places their friends read books! If I can figure out how to put them on our site I will post the winners. Please take a moment to come in and see our fun pictures. If your child hasn't brought their picture in yet, please hurry and get it to me as soon as possible.
Thanks,

Happy New Year
Happy New Year!! I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas break. It was so fun to see your darling children again, I sure missed them. Thank you to everyone for coming to our Christmas program. The kids did so great, I was really proud of them. They were so excited to share the fun songs they had been learning. I am sorry we had problems with the sound system, the kids did so great adjusting to the changes that needed to be made. I am so excited for the months ahead. We have some fun themes and activities planned, and it will be fun to see the growth and changes in your child. Let me know if I there is anything I can do to help your experience at our preschool be better. Thanks!!
Parents of Pre-K Children
Please remember to review your child's sight word cards often, the 2 week break is making them a little forgetful of the last few words we did in December.
What Will I Be When I Grow Up- Day
Remember to have you children dress up as what they want to be on Jan. 8th & 9th. We will be doing some fun activities that day.
