Curriculum Update

This past week we learned about the letter C, the number 3 in the Pre-K class and the number 2 in the Jump Start Class. Pre-K also learned the sightword "am". Please make sure your kids are practicing their sight words so they will be ready for their new one on Mondays. We also learned the nursery rhyme: Peter, Peter, Pumpkin Eater. Have them say it for you!

Homework reminder:
Jump Start- Library book and homework folder are returned every Tuesday. Also, watch for your show and tell day on the back of the calendar.

Pre-K- Library book, homework folder, sight word book and sight word ring need to all be brought back on Mondays. If you don't send the sight word ring back, I will not give them their new word card. Show and tell is every Wednesday. Children bring something that starts with the letter sound they are learning that week.

Field Trip and Carnival

Our field trip this month is to Black Island Farms, on Monday, October 26th at 10 a.m. It takes a little bit of time to get there so plan on leaving your house about 9:30. Make sure you dress warm as it will be a little cool. Also, wear shoes that can get dirty because you will be tromping through mud to pick a pumpkin.

Friday, October 30th is our Halloween Carnival at the old church on 21st street (Wilson Lane)at 9 a.m. Please try to be there as close to 9 as possible so we can get started on time. Park and enter around the back. If you haven't brought your carnival donation, please start to send them in. Make sure your kids come in costume and bring a bag to put their treats in.

Show and Tell

Now that we are into our regular curriculum schedule we will begin show and tell.

Jump Start: please look on the back of your calendar to see when your child is scheduled to bring show and tell. This month our color is orange, so help them find something orange they would like to share.

Pre-K: remember, on Wednesday you each bring something that begins with the letter we are learning about that week. This week help them find something around your house that starts with the sound "B". Let them sound out objects to really start them listening for the beginning sound of words.

Class Update

After a very fun first week of learning about fire safety, we begin week two. Your children are learning quickly what they should and shouldn't do in the event of a fire. Ask them to tell you who to call in an emergency. The more they hear it, the better they will know it. Also, work on helping your child memorize their address. It would be a good thing to know in an emergency.

We begin our second week off the color unit learning the letter B/b, the number 1 for Jump Start, and number 2 for Pre-K. Pre-K has also learned the sight words "a" and "I". We also learned our first nursery rhyme: Little Boy Blue.

We have a new student in our Jump Start class. Her name is Gracie and she was originally signed up and then moved and pulled out. We are excited she decided to make the drive and come back! Parents, this means we need to increase our treats by one.

Thanks for your support. I love teaching your children!!!
